We know you can almost picture it. The details are still a bit unfocused in your mind but after all the time you have spent looking through magazines, clipping photos, and going to home shows, you have envisioned your dream home a million times. Carolina Design Group can help you bring that vision to life. We developed our design process to ensure that the end result represents your desires and your lifestyle. It's crucial that your home is Designed For Life - your life.

That's why we ask you more than the style of home you want or how many bedrooms you need. You are the foundation around which your home design is built and the better we know you, the better we can deliver a home design that will allow you to truly feel at home.

Listed below is an overview of the stages in the design process so you will know what to expect during the journey of designing your new home.

1. Initial Design Meeting
At this first meeting we learn about what you want in your new home. Either prior to or at this meeting, we will give you our Designed For Life survey so we can better learn about your lifestyle and criteria for the design. Layout, square footage, style, materials, site considerations and budget are discussed.

2. Preliminary Design Meeting
A few weeks after the initial design meeting, we present the layout of your new home in 1/8” scale drawings, showing each floor with room dimensions, the front elevation, and the site plan.

3. Preliminary Design Review And Revisions
After you have had a couple weeks to review your new home plan, we meet to discuss enhancements. At this point you will be fine tuning specifics such as flooring, niches, ceiling details and window details. Your approval at this stage authorizes us to proceed to working drawings. Your final design drawings should be reviewed with your builder for budget proposals.

4. Floors & Elevations Review
A couple more weeks have passed and at this meeting you will see all standard elevations as well as detailed floor plans, electronic site plan and roof plan.

5. Construction Drawings
At this stage you will see many more details including framing, footings, foundation, electrical, window schedules, door schedules, roof plans and cross sections. This is your final chance to make changes before scaled drawings are given to your builder for permitting.

6. Final Completed Construction Drawings
The design process is complete at this phase. Final blueprints are provided to your builder. Each page will be stamped with an engineer's approval, and the home you used to picture in your mind is even closer to becoming a reality.
